Barry Roper, MD
President
Barry E. Roper, M.D. is a Board Certified ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology) specializing in small incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, medical and surgical management of glaucoma, and diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the eye. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves as a board member on the Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital Foundation, the Richmond Eye and Ear Healthcare Alliance, the Richmond Academy of Medicine’s Bioterrorism Task Force. He is the Medical Society of Virginia’s representative to Anthem’s Medical Advisory Panel and a member of the Physician Advisory Board for the Lupus Foundation of Virginia. Alan Wagner, MD

Dr. Alan Wagner is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery and founder of the Retina and Vitreous Center, now Wagner Macula and Retina Center. He is a graduate of the Medical Society of Virginia’s Claude Moore Leadership Institute and the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Leadership Development Program, and was a member of the Civic Leadership Institute of Hampton Roads. Other community service endeavors include service with Jewish Healthcare International (past president), the Diabetes Institutes Foundation, National Conference of Christians and Jews, AIDS Network, and the United Way. His involvement includes membership in AF&AM, Khedive Shrine and leadership positions with the Jewish Community Center of Tidewater, United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, and the Beth El Synagogue. He has been certified in excimer laser surgery since 1996, the first year that the FDA approved laser refractive surgery in the U.S. He is past president of the Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology and the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
